Senior portraits aren’t about trends. They’re about identity. Your outfits should feel natural, comfortable, and authentic. Of course, you may want to go shopping. I can’t blame you, shopping is a lot of fun. But, I also encourage your to “shop” your own closet. That dress that you love, but you only got to wear once, it’s probably perfect for your session.

Choose 3–4 Outfits That Tell a Story

Frolic Recommends:

• One semi-formal or dressy look
• One pretty dress or elevated outfit
• One cute casual look
• One laid-back option (jeans + tee, or a college t-shirt to hint at future plans)
• Bonus: Include a team uniform or hobby (like a dancer costume, band uniform, ,or soccer uniform)

Fit Is Everything

Proper fit > brand names. It just is. Regardless of what the size says, find something that fits your body.

Tailoring can completely transform how clothing photographs. If you find something that sort of fits, make sure it fits the biggest part of you. A great tailor can adjust the too big parts to fit you nicely.

Clothes should skim, not pull or bunch. You want to feel comfortable in your outfits.

Color Matters

Choose colors that complement skin tone and eye color

Think about location harmony

Avoid:

• Yellow or yellow-green tones in spring
• Browns/burgundies when shooting near brick backgrounds

Jewelry & Accessories: Stay True to Your Style

• If you wear the same earrings every day — wear them
• Don’t introduce statement pieces that don’t feel like “you”
• Jewelry should enhance, not distract
• Simple, timeless pieces will always work.
